Apple: iCloud to be announced at WWDC 2011

Developing: Early announcement with information to come.

We’ve just learnt that Apple will be taking the wraps off of a new offering, iCloud, at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday, June 6.

Apple announced in a press release that they will reveal their “next generation software – Lion, the eighth major release of Mac OS X; iOS 5, the next version of Apple’s advanced mobile operating system which powers the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch; and iCloud, Apple’s upcoming cloud services offering.”

Considering that Apple revolutionised the digital music industry with iTunes and now completely dominating the gadget world with iPhones, iPods, iPads – could iCloud be the bridge between digital music and mobile carrier? What will this mean for the music industry?
